The study of the musics of the world in their cultural contexts. An exploration of the relationships between music and identity, everyday life, worship and belief, dance, memory, migration, and/or politics. The musics of Asia, Polynesia, The Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, South America, Mexico, and Native America are studied. Lecture 3 hours.
